  1. Sam

Ha! Gotcha, Kristy. Yeah. THAT Teresa.
Did the dude with the long gun not strike
    you as slightly odd?

    • Dreamfox

      A waste of time.
The climate is changing. I don’t need anyone to tell me that.
      I can see it myself.
The question we should really ask is when will the changes
      reach catastrophic levels.
We have seen how just the crops that no longer come or only
come irregularly from Ukraine influenced food prices worldwide.
Any one want to calculate what happens if the corn belt of the
      USA has a crop failure?
And that’s just one possible problem the climate change brings.

Of course, once it reaches this point (symbolically)
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY-HOYTz-rs
we don’t need to do anything to prevent it any more.

      • So did you even give the video a look?

      • “when will the changes reach catastrophic levels” If you had
bothered to look at an alternative view you would have seen
that the answer to your question is “Never!” As you said,
“climate change” is a self-evident fact. Anthropogenic
        climate change is a sham,
a hoax and a terrible wrong foisted upon the world!

        • Sorry Bill, human activities are impacting the world. Yes, subtle
long term changes are difficult to quantify until after the fact.
Even if we ignore “climate” questions of how much impact from
what cause, should not we still try to clean up our shit? We only
get one cradle world, it would be nicer to have some wilderness
parks, instead of a polluted industrial complex. Many of those
arguing against actions are more worried about next quarters
          bonus, instead of the next few generations quality of life :{

          • Watch the video, then come back and we can discuss it.

          • While it would be foolhardy to contend that 8,000,000,000
humans could not affect climate at all, it turns out that
wealth, not forced conservation, is probably the best way
to do it. After all, there are more trees in the US today than
when it was discovered by Europeans. One reason for
that is that we’re not burning wood to cook and keep warm,
or at least not on a major basis. That’s not true in the most
populous countries in the world. And most new conservation
policies come from Europe and the US, not Asia. Enforce
the conservation (primarily CO2 emissions restrictions) if
you want to “save the planet.” Failing that, only draconian
population restrictions in Asia will ever have any effect.

        • JasonAW3

Bill, you’re not completely wrong, but humanity does have an influence on the weather,
albeit, of a rather minor degree. The most obvious influence is the heat islands caused
by large cities like New York or Los Angeles. This has been shown to reduce snow fall,
trap smog over cities and increase wind speeds due to tall buildings.
About the largest environmental impacts we humans make are the changes we produce
through the damming of rivers, production of water reservoirs, and the impact of roads
through forests and wildlife areas. So generally, not nearly as much as most of the
Eco terrorists would have you believe. But, yeah we do have an impact, but the sun,
volcanos, and simple orbital dynamics have a FAR greater impact than humanity does.

        • Chryzopraz

I’m pretty sure this comic is not the proper place for such
discussion as major events in the comic’s world have changed
the climate in an unpredictable way (many nuclear blasts,
collapse of economies, move from coal, oil and gas to
          gravity as energy source).
So most likely the global warming is largely
slowed down if not stopped there.
There is no doubt it’s humans that have the biggest influence
on our climate today, no matter if we like it or no.
Human activity emits 60 (!) times more CO2 than all volcanoes
each year. The same goes for methane and other gases.
Sorry, there’s just too many humans on Earth currently.

  2. I’ve been getting accusatory emails from the usual idiots.
“So, the Empire’s going to enslave more people…”
“What does the Empire get out of this?”
The Empire wouldn’t be doing this without…” Yada, yada.
The Empire is barely involved in this,
except for providing short – and long – term security.
Kind of just sitting back and observing while
    good people do good things.
Maybe this will shut some of the accusers up.
Aw, who am I kidding? Nothing will shut some people up,
especially if they can only criticize and never create.

    • This is also why I rarely check my email. Sorry.

      • Sam

Many years ago I learned what turned
out to be a “mock” Latin phrase.
Sounds Latin anyway. It fits here:
        Illegitimi non carborundum.

Don’t let the bastards get you down.

        • mine is “Octal rectitis,,
is where the eye muscles and the ass muscles cross,.
and you ” Have a shitty outlook on life. “

      • Chryzopraz

I noticed. Twice I have sent an email to
finally register here and it was ignored…

    • It’s the same old story, people criticize, but don’t know how to do
anything. It’s how they deal with the fact that they don’t have any
creativity or the drive to do anything, so “pointing out” anyone
else’s “faults” makes them feel better. Don’t let it bother you,
just keep in mind that fact.
and let their insults run off like piss off a ducks back… 😉

    • That’s why I enjoy commenting here, most of us have done more
in our first 40 years of life than most do their entire lives.
And they can’t deal with it. “There’s no way you’re that cool!”
is something I’ve heard many times. I’m not cool, I just survived.

    • Curtis

Ahhhhh Petercat, There are two types of people who account for most
of these emails. Some people are not happy unless they are unhappy.
Some people have a hard time distinguishing between fact and fiction.
Note: the reaction some people had to Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code.”

      • Like my mother and her soap operas, she actually
sent angry/threatening letters about one “mean”
        actress to her favorite characters…

    • JasonAW3

So, PC, the Empire is going to come in, offer low taxes, personal freedom and
responsibility, a simplified legal system, fair trade, advanced technology and
the people get to choose whether or not they want to be citizens?

Yeah, we can’t have that! We’re supposed to be suffering in a dystopian,
post apocalypse hellscape of cannablism, radioactive mutants, and horrific
      diseases and zombies!

Geez..! It’s like you’re trying to instill hope in the future or something!

  3. Good, so it’s just manufacturing supplies they need, nothing else.
That makes it simpler (if not easier) to handle. And all the more
reason to include the area into the kingdom!
Insulin is a biggie too, I can’t miss one shot for fear of my
glucose to hit in the high 300’s.

    Kristy, Kristy, Kristy…
If he told you then why didn’t you expect that?
Other than like most people expect an older woman that’s tall?
I guess it would help in her defense,
bad guys are thinking it’s a regal looking sour faced woman in
her late 40s not a short, young and pretty lady in her 20s!

    • Dreamfox

However, one of the reasons they have security
is because the Empire surrounds them.
They don’t have to deal with marauders or
other towns trying to steal their stuff.

      • Once the Legion sets up an outpost they’ll have a lot less
to worry about, more so with the Dragonflies providing air
support. Plus it’ll give the Legion a new area to “recruit”
from… “Hang with us or hang alone, while swinging.”

      • FYI, if I remember the map right, they are north of Jerico, and aren’t
surrounded by the Empire, but just above it all. The Empire started
in South Jerico, while the north was where the problem children lived.
King had largely left North Jerico alone and cemented his reach and
control in the southern half of the city.

  4. Hey PC, what was that hard drive you recommended to me?
I thought I had bookmarked it but I can’t find it now.

    • Nevermind, I finally found it. I really need to stop just
making a short cut instead of bookmarking them.

      • So which one did I recommend? Other that just “Western Digital”…
That’s the only data storage I’ll recommend, not because they’re
so much better than anyone else, but because their customer
service is superb. I’ve used a lot of Crucial memory in my builds,
but will never buy another Crucial product because of the way
they screwed me on a warranty claim.
        Same with Seagate and Samsung.
Before you buy a Western Digital, contact their Customer Service
and ask for a discount on your next order. They’ll usually give
        you a discount code.
And only buy from their website, you won’t find a lower price
on any legitimate site like Amazon. Same with Corsair products,
they might also give you a discount.

I’m glad I waited, the price came down since I first looked at it.
That’s the link you sent me I believe. I was going to go with
the 1TB, but the 2TB is the same price now. Living on a tight
          budget sux…
I’ll request a code, but I don’t hold much hope, the bigger,
fancier drives are the ones they want people to buy before
they start to drop in price, but I’ll give it a shot. Next will be
the bigger cooling radiator from arctic.

          • They don’t care what you buy,
if they give you a discount it
will be for your entire order.

        • I’ve got only 60 GB to run on out of 225 GB,
          so it’s getting pressing…

          • Check email, please.

            • OK, I got 10% off, thanks. Sadly I don’t get “paid”
until Friday, I hope the code lasts that long.

              • Yeah, WD customer service is world class.
When I build a computer, the three brands
I go to strictly because of their CS are WD,
                Corsair and Arctic.

  5. I assumed Kristy recognized Teresa when she asked
if she should kneel, more cheeky than chutzpah.
IMO an appropriate attitude for a free citizen.

It’s nice to see ‘authorities’ outside the Empire that aren’t
into exploiting the masses, at least to current appearances.
And it’s nice to see the Empire doing exactly what I wanted,
-showing- the current residents this annexation is to their
advantage and they lose little or nothing by it. Beats the
hell out of how the Native Americans were so informed.

    • Once open exchange and support lines open up
and the Legion can cover them, their lives will get
greatly better. Then the sheriff and his men can
spend more time in town and not run road blocks.
Plus we may see plot lines come out of this addition
      to Jerico!

      • Sam

Correction – addition to “the empire”, not to Jerico.

        • Technically, it’s an addition to the Kingdom of Jerico.
Jerico has no more status that any other Kingdom,
in itself. The Empress just happens to live there.

          • Sam

            My correction stands corrected.

        • Yeah, following the war to free Catia, King and Teresa
decided to do that, and install a Catain as king. Made
          sense to me.

    • Nah, she was just being a smartass about how short Teresa is.
She’s had a lot of practice since her friend, Seb, is no taller.

  6. Watch out gang, there’s a fake UPS email going around.
I’ve got 3 so far, and I know it’s fake because:
    1. I haven’t ordered anything, much less needing signed for,
    2. UPS doesn’t contact you by email, they let the vender handle it,
    3. there wasn’t a UPS header, just random numbers
DO NOT click on the links, it’s a ransomware attack.

    • I get those occasionally. I also get texts about an order from Amazon
(or Walmart, etc.) that supposedly has problems. I just delete the
emails and texts and block the number which was the origin of the
texts. I definitely do not click on links in text messages unless I am
absolutely sure of the origin. My native paranoia protects me from a
      lot of stuff.

      • That’s why I don’t use a email program anymore,
I’ve used gmail for more than a decade. and hotmail
before that. After the “Happy ’99” virus infecting
me and everyone I had on my list, never again.
I lost friends because of that BS.

  7. JasonAW3

PC, not to quibble, but I always thought insulin could
only be extracted from biological sources.
I didn’t know you could create it in a chemistry lab…

    • Synthetic Insulin has been made since the 1980’s..
i can make over 5 different “OTC” meds.. but..
      i can’t sell em cuz i don’t have a pharmacist doc.!

    • Artificial works ok, but the natural works better. but has
a short shelf life, where as like mine today, I can have the
syringe on my desk for a month without refrigeration.
Mine is a blend of insulin and another drug called Truelicity,
as I’m both diabetic and insulin resistant.

  8. Chuck Smith

Folks, tomorrow morning at 6 am central time, I’m going to be
having my vocal cords worked on, in an attempt to restore more
of my vocal and swallowing function.
Somehow, I’m more afraid of this than I was of both my cancer
    operations.
Weird, I guess. Wish me luck.

  9. Sorry, there will be no Wednesday page. Life has been kicking my ass for
the last few days, and I just made it home. But I’ve got everything
settled, so there will be a strip on Friday, I promise.

    • rest,, get well,,. we will wait.! 🙂

    • You’re fine, RL is more important no matter what.
Relax, rest, and pretend the internet is just a bad
joke… That Gary and I are telling to you 😛
Which is mostly bad puns, worse dad-jokes, and
some sicko making the dancing baby twerk…
(gag, choke, cough) hang on, I need a moment here…
      damn mental image…

    • Don’t worry about us. Just get well.
      RL kicks everyone at times.
Be like the pole dancer, grin and bear/bare it.
      it’s all we can do.

      • President Elect Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neanderthal B Woodman Domestic Violent Extremist SuperStraight

Unless you want a dead planet, DON’T reduce the CO2.
        CO2 is plant food.
Trust the LibTard DildoCrats to label a vital
        atmospheric gas as a pollutant.
        Reduce the nitrous, sulfide, fluoride,
large particulate, and other irritant smog products.
        But not CO2.

        • Exactly, I once believed the hype they were spewing out, but once
I made the effort to look up the real causes I felt like a fool, and that’s
the real issue, it’s not the debate on how serious it is, it’s about
admitting they were wrong the whole time. People don’t believe the
Earth is a living, breathing place with cycles just like any other living
thing. It’s just much slower than us. I’m more worried about the trash
          and pollution than “global warming.”

    • Curtis

I hope whatever has been kicking is under control and settled quickly.
“RL is more important no matter what.”
And I know the difference. 😉

  10. Jan

In the list of persons below the comic, Spirit is listed.
Isn’t the dragonfly following/impressed to Teresa named Dagger?

If I recall correctly, Spirit (blue, impressed to Tabitha) is Dagger’s (green, see above)
and Flower’s (red, impressed to Kathy) offspring…
This is viewed/written on my tablet while on holiday, which is why I don’t plan on going surfing for the
right issue to confirm/correct my memory 😉
