Considering the first thing Ashley did upon meeting Calixta was "where's aunt Brittany", I would probably be just as......uh... violently cautious as Cali tbh
Max loves roughhousing. We've seen him do it with his guy friends as well. This is like enrichment for him, like tossing a pumpkin into a tiger enclosure once in a while.
Not just that. He's not "talking to another girl": He's letting Min use his body to
- ACTUALLY HIT ON a girl
- a girl that is her actual romantic rival
- and which is his wife in a (hopefully alternate) future timeline
IRL, that combo would be enopugh to socially justify an actual slap from one's GF (I mean,it's one of two cases where an actual hit is not considered violence but "he deserved it"; the other being a friend dope-slaping you for saying something atrotiously stupid - likely suggesting the above stuff).
Max is, more or less, into it. Max is an extreme masochist, and Cali is a girl who learned to express herself via wrestling. Guarantee if Max actually wanted her to stop, she'd stop because she loves him that much. He doesn't want her to stop.
I hypothesize she is who was SUPPOSED to be born from Max's mom, but there was interference from the magical realm for reasons, resulting in the ACTUAL anomaly that is Max.
Not much to go on for it, but not ZERO, either.
Imagine that twist: Okay, that's what Min is... but now what the hell is MAX?!
We know Max and Brittany were together in the future Max went to. In the same future Min had to be sealed. What if Min and Brittany were in fact a couple and when she was sealed, Max and Brittany were so distraught that they seek comfort in each other.
Or they lied and it was Max who was sealed and Min took over and became a couple with Brittany.
Ashley knows her cousin as Max and not Min. So either Min has replaced Max or we take what the scenario tells us as such and it is indeed a future where Max is with Brittany and where Min is sealed. Max seems to recognize her through the symbol
Well, he believes it to be Min... It could be recognition of her symbol, but it could also be that he feels the symbol is something akin to himself. Which with no other voice in his head, he would assume to be Min... But what if it is himself that he is feeling?
Good job on the drawing, Doc. HOW THE HELL does Min manage to look and act girly and femenine in Max's burly, oh-so-masculine body? Not a small feat conveying that by body posture and facial expresions WITHOUT going off-model!!
This is looking more like the start of Min outgrowing her living space. She's been riding the passenger seat with Max for a very long time, but with the scene ("seen") at the Obsidian Mirror, and taking the steering wheel a few times when Max was knocked out, she's learning she has opportunities, and potential. Try asking a teenager not to push at boundaries, see where that gets you.
You nail it.
In "Obsidian" (1677) Min sees her astral form (which as we later learn, is "what you can get to be"... and as someone appropiately named Eddie comments, "Min's astral form is instead the image of raving madness. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piece_of_Mind"
(I mean appropiately because yes, Min DOES look like Eddie, the Iron Maiden mascot)
And we later learn that Max *DOES* recohnize Min inside the sigil ("That Damn First Day", 1865) and that Min did indeed turn to madness ("Human Sacrifice", 1866).
Also, I really like how Min in Max’s body is drawn slightly differently. It’s sort of creepy to see Max’s body so chill and smiley. The little eyelashes are also cute. I wonder if Cali or Bee let Min borrow their eyeliner?
Does Len know about Min? Does Diane? I know they MET when Max did his future shenanigans, but you gotta wonder if they have OPINIONS on Min we haven't heard about. Or Theories.
Like, both are acquainted with Izzy, who probably still thinks Min is an imaginary friend Max grew out of. Why not tell her? Or Max's parents? This seems like something both will get mad at Len for keeping quiet about later...
Max told Len about Min. He hasn't told Diana anything on-screen, but she and Len were both there when Min piloted his body for a bit, so Diana probably has an idea.
1505-1507, Max goes to Len's house specifically to ask her if Min is real.
We never really saw any of the "further testing" Len mentioned there, though Min apparently is real enough to be a part of a seven-witch time travel ritual.
Thank you DoctorGlasgow, for this comic, for the hardwork you put into it, the constant belly laughs, and all the wonderful absurdities the occur in the backgrounds.
More than anything though, I must thank you for never failing to deliver SUPLEX!
Min could also be a manifestation of part of their system, if that is what they are. And different people in a system like different things, people, preferences, identities, ect. But knowing this comic, min is probably something a lot different.
The last panel had me rolling, thank you for A++ content
Cali just... expresses herself weird? I think.
Not saying it isn't done for humor in Ennui Go, but in real life someone like Calixta would be termed an abusive partner
She's had a habit of hitting Max for years now and now she's graduated to suplexing him when he wants to talk to another girl?
There is a point when you stop being a kid and become an adult. That should involve not making a habit of hitting or trying to control your partner
Calixta needs to grow up. I don't think I'd like her as much if Max was waking up with two black eyes
If she won't grow up, then I think Brittany is the better choice for Max. She's never hit him
- ACTUALLY HIT ON a girl
- a girl that is her actual romantic rival
- and which is his wife in a (hopefully alternate) future timeline

P.S - Nice swerve there, Doc, my compliments!

makes sense
Or they lied and it was Max who was sealed and Min took over and became a couple with Brittany.
Aaaaaand you win the price for recognizing and mentioning what many failed to notice in their theories
I...I don't know what to say...I would like to thank my ability to remember even the smallest details
